Jared Shamburger

Taste homemade frybread without leeching and pounding the acorns yourself!

Long ago in North America, before wheat flour there was corn, and before corn there were acorns!

- Stay in the Thanksgiving mood by learning about how some of the first people who settled North America used to make bread. All the gluten free folks today have nothing on the first Americans!

- Ranger Jared will talk a bit about the interesting culinary options of prehistoric of America. We will also go over a brief explanation of the process of producing flour from acorns, both historically and how it’s done today.

- After all that talk, our Dutch Oven will be bubbling for the chance to make some delicious fry bread for visitors to sample!

Participants should bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and be ready for your taste buds to travel back in time!

Meet at the Festival Grounds.
