Legacy of the CCC

12:00p to 12:45p
Sat, August 31, 2019
Jared Shamburger

Hear the story of struggle that built our parks and saved our forests...

These young men reshaped our nation and replanted our wilderness, join us in remembering how they lived.

  • The Civilian Conservation Corps changed the lives of more than 3 million young men and proudly established many of our State and National parks.
  • Come relive their struggle and glory with our Interpretive Ranger, and learn a brief history of the CCC and their story here at Mission Tejas State Park.
  • After we discuss their legacy, those who wish can accompany Ranger Jared on a “CCC hike” along some of the 80+ year old trails the corpsman first walked all those years ago in the shadow of the Great Depression.

Participants should bring water, bug spray, appropriate clothing and footwear for the park, and be ready to gain a new respect for the parks we enjoy!

Meet at the Visitors Center.

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.
