Make Your Own Walking Stick

1:00p to 2:00p
Sat, December 14, 2019
Jared Shamburger
(936) 687-2394

Stand tall - RSVP to craft a one-of-a-kind walking stick!

We’ve all felt the temptation to gather that prefect branch to help us along on a hike, BUT of course that’s against the rules!

- Be jealous no longer, come to MTSP and make your own unique walking stick to show off on all your outdoor adventures! Whether for a gift or for yourself, learn why making art in Texas State Parks supports environmental stewardship in the Lone Star State.

- Park staff will be on hand to assist with some tools and materials to help you customize the look of your stick and turn your wood blank into a work of art!

Because blanks are harvested outside of the park at a limited availability, we are asking participants to RSVP for this event! Contact the Park Office or Ranger Jared at the email address listed on this posting. We will have a variety of species, shapes, and sizes of blanks to choose from, first-come, first-served. Feel free to bring your own, of course!

Participants are encouraged to bring water, closed-toed shoes, clothing they don’t mind getting stained or dirty, and a creative eye! Please RSVP with your number of desired participants; attendance may be capped depending on demand.

Meet at the old HQ by the Maintenance Area! Please park by the Rice Log Home.

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.
