Nighttime Photography: Capturing Art in the Park

Highlight and capture the beauty of Mission Tejas State Park at night...

We're happy to say this event has been rescheduled! Join our Interpretive Ranger and special guest Chris Emory for a night shoot at the park!

  • Friends of Mission Tejas State Park’s Social Media representative and photography aficionado Chris will be our special guest, and present us with some tips and techniques for shooting at night.
  • Nighttime photography offers unique challenges, but also unique opportunities and rewards. Striking night skies behind tall pines, and illuminated historic structures offer interesting subjects.
  • Learn how capturing the beauty of the park and sharing your photos with friends and social media supports stewardship of our beloved state parks.
  • Meet at the Rice Family Log Home!

Please note: This event requires a quality digital camera or DSLR, and anyone who wishes to practice long exposure shots of the night sky should also consider bringing a tripod. That being said, visitors without access to a camera are more than welcome to join us to view the event and learn some tips for the future!

It is recommended anyone joining us bring along water, glowsticks or colored flashlights if they wish to practice light writing photos (a limited number will be provided by the park), a headlight or flashlight, bug spray, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and an eye for detail!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public, and as this is a night event participants who arrive after park hours will need to use the self-pay station. Entrance fees are 3$ per person 13 and older. Attendance to the event itself is free after regular entrance or camping fees, or with a TSPP
