Nocturnal Hike

7:30p to 8:45p
Fri, October 25, 2019
Jared Shamburger

Hit the moonlit trail and search for critters in your park after dark!

Experience Mission Tejas in a new light- moonlight! Y’all come out and hit the trails with Ranger Jared for a night hike!

- Meet up at the playground and beat feet on some of the park’s older trails without the heat of the sun!

- Along the way we can listen for some of the park’s nocturnal residents, spotlight, and use a UV light to shine for Striped Bark Scorpions and other luminescent arthropods.

- Feel free to ask questions about the park’s plant and animal life, especially in regards to nighttime at the park. Be ready to give a big howl before you head out!

Participants are advised to bring water, a flashlight for each member of their group, bug spray, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and their best night vision! The park has a limited number of loaner headlamps for those without.

Meet at the Playground!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public, but as this is a night event participants who arrive after park hours will need to use the self-pay station. Entrance fees are 3$ per person 13 and older. Attendance to the event itself is free after regular day use or camping fees.
