Experience Mission Tejas in a new light - moonlight!

Come hit the trails with Ranger Jared for a night hike!

- We will meet up at the park’s amphitheater and go over some of the animals that stay active even on a cold winters night!

- After our critter conversation, we’ll hit the trail for a 1.5 mile loop skipping around different sections of the trail network to experience 3 different landscapes in the cover of darkness!

- Along the way we can listen for some of the park’s nocturnal residents, spotlight, and use UV lights to shine for Striped Bark Scorpions and other reflective arthropods.

- Feel free to ask questions about the park’s plant and animal life, especially in regard to nighttime at the park. Be ready to give a big howl before you head out!

Meet @ the Day-Use Pavilion

Participants are advised to bring water, a flashlight for each member of their group, appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather, and their best night vision! The park has a limited number of loaner headlamps for those without.

*Attendance to this event is open to the public, but as this is a night event participants who arrive after park hours will need to use the self-pay station. Entrance fees are 3$ per person 13 and older. Attendance to the event itself is free after regular day use or camping fees.
