Relive the challenges of survival by learning a skill of the past!

***This event has been cancelled at the recommendation of TPWD senior staff in order to mitigate the risk of gathering in groups at this time.***

Experience the challenge of primitive hunting and warfare with the atlatl in a safe archery range setting at Mission Tejas State Park!

- The atlatl is a tool simple tool that has gone by many names and been used by many cultures around the world.

- Learn the proper technique for safely and skillfully using the atlatl to propel darts down range. Then experience history firsthand and give it a shot yourself! Pun intended folks!

Meet: At the Festival Grounds behind the Rice Log Home, park at the Rice  Home.

Duration: The Ranger Talk and orientation takes ~ 10 minutes, range time depends on turnout.

What to Bring: Water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and be ready for a challenge!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.***
