Primitive Fire ― History in Action

4:00p to 5:00p
Sat, December 28, 2019
Jared Shamburger
(936) 687-2394

Where there’s smoke there’s fire? If only that were true!

Your kindling won’t catch? You cheated and used lighter fluid? Leave that in the past by travelling back to the past.

- Come see the tried and true methods of starting a fire, backed by thousands of years of success! Learn what natural tinder can be found here in the Pineywoods and how to build a successful nest.

- From friction fire, to pistons, to flint and steel ― you’ll see history in action. Put your instincts and ancient science skills to the test and see if you can build a successful nest for Ranger Jared to put up in smoke!

- Find a new appreciation for fire (and matches) and learn how its importance in the past mirrors its place today.

Bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, mosquito spray, and be ready to give thanks for the invention of the lighter.

Meet at the Festival Grounds!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.
