Sawyer work is a science. Come experience the sights and sounds that make it an art.

Felling tall trees is a big part of forestry in East Texas, but how do rangers do it safely?

- From the days of the CCC to the employees of TPWD, the tools have changed but the skills remain the same! Learn what foresters look at before they fell a tree, and size up and sound trees with a ranger!

- Whether you're a kiddo who looks up to rangers or a land owner who manages acreage, this program is an interesting way to learn how sawyers stay safe!

Meet: At the Commemorative Mission.

Difficulty: The walkabout following the Ranger Talk will be easy, at <1 mile.

Duration: The show and tell will take ~15 minutes with the following hike taking ~45 minutes.

What to Bring: Water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and come learn to leer like a lumberjack.

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees. ***
