Moonless Myths, Stargazing at MTSP

8:30p to 9:30p

Jared Shamburger

Gaze up in the darkness and hear the stories of the stars…

Join Ranger Jared in the pocket pasture to see how brilliant the stars can be under the new moon!

  • After a short walk to the open skied pocket pasture, set up a chair, bundle up, and hear what stories the stars can tell us.
  • Spot some of the more prominent constellations that are out this time of year and hear what legends they tell us with their distant light.
  • As we walk and talk on our way to the viewing location, those who want their own light should bring a red lens/light if possible, to allow for night vision adjustment. There will be a limited number of loaner lights available from the park, first come first serve.

Participants may want to bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, a folding chair or blanket, a flashlight (with a red lens if possible), and their best night vision!

Meet at the Mission.

This event is dependent on weather, check our park’s facebook page for the most up to date details!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public, but as this is a night event participants who arrive after park hours need to use the self-pay station. Entrance fees are 3$ per person 13 and older. Attendance to the event itself is free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.
