World Environment Day - Tales of the Trees Arts and Crafts
Fri, June 05, 2026
Join park staff and discover how the rings of a tree reveal the story of the forest!
The rings on a tree can tell you alot! Not just how the tree itself grew and how old it is, but even revealing the tale of the surrounding forest! Droughts, wildfires and more can be revealed when you read the story of the trees.
We will be looking at several core samples and cross sections of some of the park's largest trees and look at history through the eyes (er....roots?) of the silent sentinels of the forest.
Afterwards, to celebrate World Environment Day, we will be doing arts and crafts; we will pass out wooden cross-sections that you or your kids can paint on! Created a mini Earth, a forest scene or whatever else you want to show your passion for the great outdoors!
Where: Park Visitor Center by Headquarters.
When: Friday June 5th, 2026 @ 1:00 PM
