Texas Heroes Day - Change of Venue due to Inclement Weather

Enjoy a day of honoring our fallen Texas Heroes.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather this weekend, the program scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Sept. 15, will be moved off-site to the Historic Casino Hall located at 254 N. Jefferson St. in downtown La Grange.  Additional parking is on N. Franklin and East Colorado streets. Due to space constraints, we will not have period craft demonstrations or musket/cannon salutes.  Park staff will conduct the wreath laying at the park on Tuesday, Sept. 18, weather permitting.  Other Texas Heroes Day events in La Grange are still planned as scheduled. Call the park for more details.

Enjoy a day honoring our fallen Texas Heroes including those of the Dawson Massacre and the ill-fated Mier Expedition of 1842 and 1843.  Enjoy a historic music presentation and guest speaker as well as pioneer crafts demonstrations.  A memorial wreath laying ceremony and black-powder musket and cannon salutes, performed by costumed reenactors, will conclude the event.  Guided tours of the historic sites will be offered in the afternoon. A pre-event will be held on the evening of Friday, Sept. 14.  Call for more details.
