Celebrate Bats, Trains & Astronomy!

🎉 We will have booths with activities related to the bats, the railroad and dark skies/astronomy. The booths will shut down for the evening bat viewing. After the bat viewing, we will hold an astronomy program. PLEASE NOTE: Due to rain and high winds forecast for Saturday, stay tuned to our Facebook page for alerts about the event. If necessary, we will cancel this event.

Learn about bats and the important role they play in the environment. Explore the history of the Fredericksburg/San Antonio Railroad and the Old Tunnel.

The celebration will conclude with an astronomy program with a tour of the night sky, viewing visible planets and the moon using telescopes.

This is one of many 100-year celebration events happening in Texas state parks this year. Entry to Old Tunnel is free every day, so no reservation is needed for activities except for the bat viewing.

Guarantee entry for the bat viewing by reserving your ticket up to one month before this special event.
