It's a super blood moon at Palmetto SP. A total lunar eclipse will be visible starting at 8:36 PM and reach it's total eclipse by 11:00PM.

Join park staff for an evening hike that literally happens during a blood moon. January 20 will be the first lunar eclipse of 2019. On top of that fun fact we will also experience a super moon which means the moon is close to the earth so cross your fingers for good viewing. We're hoping the long boardwalk on the Mesquite Flats trail will provide good viewing that evening. We'll have our telescope out. Please bring your own if you have one. The boardwalk is a short 1/4 mile walk from the parking lot so bring a chair and a blanket if you want.

Bring your thermos; it will probably be chilly. Program is free with paid park admission.
