Building Up and Tearing Down

Learn about who built Palo Duro Canyon State Park and how erosion continues to break down the canyon down in this short, riverside stroll.

Join our rangers in hiking along a portion of the Paseo Del Rio Trail (Approximately ½ mile one way). During this riverside romp, you’ll get to see firsthand the handiwork of the Civilian Conservation Corps, who built our state park, and how erosion works to undo their work, and continues to carve Palo Duro Canyon.

Things You Should Know:
• Meet: At the Soapberry Day Use Area.
• Bring: Comfortable walking/hiking shoes or boots, 1 liter of water per person per mile, weather appropriate clothing.
• Cost: Included with admission to the park. Park admission is free with a Texas State Park Pass (purchased before event).

This program may be cancelled due to weather.
