"THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED." Learn how water helps cottonwood trees survive, and how water helped the cattle industry thrive, even in a hostile environment.

Join our rangers in hiking along a portion of the Paseo Del Rio Trail (Approximately 1 mile roundtrip). During this riverside romp, you’ll get to see firsthand how water gives the lifeblood to not only our plant life in the canyon, but also how it gave that lifeblood to the cattle ranching industry in the late 1800’s.

Things You Should Know:

  • Meet: At the Soapberry Day Use Area.
  • Bring: Comfortable walking/hiking shoes or boots (they will get sandy), 1 liter of water per person per mile, weather appropriate clothing (jackets, etc.).
  • Cost: Included with admission to the park. Park admission is free with a Texas State Park Pass(purchased before event).

This program may be cancelled due to weather.

No Pre-registration required.
