Hunter’s Moon Hike – Self-Guided

Pick up a packet from Headquarters, choose a trail, and experience the rising of October’s Hunter’s Moon in this self-guided full moon hike.

Grab a guided hike packet at Headquarters and choose a trail to watch the Hunter’s Moon rise over the walls of Palo Duro Canyon and hear the tales of this spooky, autumn full moon.

Things You Should Know: 

• Pickup: A self-guided Hunter’s Moon Hike packet from Headquarters. These will be available at our self-pay station after 5:30 p.m.
• Bring: Weather appropriate clothing (jackets, etc.), a headlamp/flashlight, 1 liter of water per person per mile and comfortable walking/hiking shoes or boots (they will get sandy).
• Cost: Included with admission to the park. Remember to pay with a self-service envelope if arriving after 5:30 p.m. Park admission is free with a Texas State Park Pass(purchased before event).
