Homeschool Hour at Pedernales Falls!

Sign your homeschool student up for a lesson in nature on a Thursday!

Bring your homeschool student to an outdoor classroom this school year! 

Recommended 5 years old to 14 years old.

Each month Pedernales Falls State Park will be hosting a different class/activity for homeschool students. Class size is limited and sign up is necessary to attend. The link to sign up is below.

These events will take place on the 1st Thursday and Friday of the month except for January. Both days will have the same event/topic/activity, so you only need to sign up for one of them.

Many of these events will be outdoors and involve hiking. Keep the weather in mind and dress comfortably. Please reach out to us with any questions you have ahead of time. We may have to cancel a class due to weather, and we will email anyone who has signed-up.

Parents/Guardians are required to stay with their children during each event.

September 3rd and 4th - Skins, Skulls, Scales, and Scat! Join us in learning more about our local wildlife by looking at things they have left behind. We'll touch fur, look closely at their teeth, and learn all about their behaviors in the outdoors.

October 1st and 2nd - Guided Geology Hike! Did you know there are fossils all over the Falls? Lets go find them! We'll hike down to the falls, examine each fossil, and talk about what their lives were like in prehistoric Pedernales Falls!

November 5th and 6th - Prehistoric Hunting! Lets learn more about how prehistoric peoples lived long before the bow and arrow was invented. Recommended for ages 8 and over.

December 3rd and 4th - Fishing with a Ranger! Learn the basics and even expand your knowledge to include several different fishing methods! Equipment provided but you are welcome to bring your own gear.
