Veterans Mental Health Awareness Ruck Hike

Join us in honoring and supporting our veterans during our annual Veterans Mental Health Awareness Ruck Hike!
Start your morning with a meaningful Veterans Mental Health Awareness Ruck Hike dedicated to support, connection, and community. Move at your own pace, take in the scenery, and join park staff and volunteers as we raise awareness for the mental health needs of those who have served. Along the way, discover helpful resources and information available to veterans and their families, offered by park staff and participating organizations.
Learn about the area. Support local veterans. Connect with others who care about making a difference.
When: Sunday, September 27th at 9:00–11:00 am
Where: Meet at the Chaparral Pavilion
Trail: Road Runner Loop - 3.1 miles
* Participants may complete the loop as many times as they feel comfortable with, moving at their own pace.
Hike weighted or unweighted—rucking is welcome but not required. If you choose to ruck, please bring your own weight.
Banners, flags, and memorabilia to honor veterans are welcome.
Bring:
• Water (at least 2 liters per person)
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Weather‑appropriate clothing
• A snack, if you’d like
Cost: Registration is not required. This event is FREE to participants!
Veterans & Active Duty Military: Check out our Parklands Passports, which provide you with free entry to all Texas State Parks. You can bring your documentation and register for your passport in the gatehouse at any time.
