Public Fishing Day for Youth

Pack your sunscreen, hat, lawn chair and fishing gear for catch-and-release fishing at our marine fish hatchery and visitor education center.

Open to guests 2 years old to 16 years old accompanied by an adult.

Bring your own gear and bait with barbless hooks. No corks, artificial bait, treble hooks or metal leaders. A 4/0 or 5/0 circle hooks on a line with a weight (Carolina Rig) is recommended. Dead bait such as shrimp, squid, mullet, or cubed beef liver are preferred. No fishing license required.

We recommend that you bring something to sit on, a cooler with drinks and snacks, and sunscreen. No alcoholic beverages are allowed.

Volunteers and staff will be on hand to assist first-time anglers. Accessible for the mobility impaired.
