Birding with a Ranger

Join a Ranger to learn about local and migratory birds of Stephen F. Austin and how to use mobile apps to participate in citizen science.

Beautiful birds make their home and visit the park every day! Whether you are an avid birder or a novice, come join Ranger Vinnie for a guided look at these feathered friends!

The hike will last about one-hour, then you can sit in our Wildlife Viewing area where the birds come to you!

• Download eBird and/or Merlin ID before coming to the park; we have limited cell service.
• Meet at the Amphitheater parking lot.
• Bring comfortable shoes, water, hat, sunscreen, and binoculars and/or a bird field guide (if you have one)
• Email us if you'd like to reserve a pair of binoculars while you are birding!

Park admission is $5 for adults and FREE 12 & under (Park entry free with Texas State Park Pass.).
