Second Saturday with Steve: Burning on the Brazos
Sat, April 11, 2026
Join the staff of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site (located one mile west of Stephen F. Austin State Park) as they commemorate the anniversary of the burning of the town.
On March 29, 1836, the town of San Felipe de Austin was burned by its own citizens as a defensive tactic during the Texas Revolution. Unfortunately for it’s inhabitants, San Felipe de Austin would never be fully rebuilt. Learn how the site brings this event to life with our annual Burning on the Brazos event taking place the same day on Saturday, April 11th from 9am to 4pm.
Time: 12:30 - 1:30 pm
Location: Nature Center
Cost: Included with daily entrance fee. Adults are $5 per person. Children 12 and under are free. Park admission is free with a Texas Parks Pass. Want to speed up your entry process? Reserve online in advance.
