Kayaking 101 - First Come, First Serve

Join a park ranger to learn kayaking basics! *THIS PROGRAM IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE; NO RESERVATIONS REQUIRED*

Park rangers will provide all equipment including life jackets, kayaks and paddles. Instructions on safety and proper paddle strokes will be provided at 9:00 am, 10:00 am and 11:00 am. Attending one of these scheduled lessons is required prior to launching.

Who: All ages are welcome but children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult on a tandem kayak. Both single and tandem kayaks will be available.

What to bring: Dress for the weather and plan to get wet; old sneakers or closed-toe water shoes are highly recommended. Please bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Phones, cameras, and other valuables are NOT recommended on the water.

Where: We will be launching from the Deer Ridge camping area between sites 58 & 59.

There is an overflow parking area there and additional parking at the restrooms nearby.

Program is weather-dependent and will be canceled if wind gusts are greater than 10 mph.

Space is limited and spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. 

This program is free with your paid park entrance fee ($7 per person ages 13 and up, children 12 and under are always free).
