Join biologists and learn about Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in Texas. Learn how the disease spreads, how it's being managed, and how you can help.

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) threatens wild and captive deer. This fatal disease is in a family of neurological diseases known as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE). In Texas, CWD impacts our native white-tailed and mule deer as well as elk and several exotic deer species including red deer, and sika deer.

This event is intended to educate those living and hunting in Texas about the disease, including how it impacts affected deer,  how it spreads within herds,  and TPWD's monitoring program.
