Please practice social distancing even when outdoors.

Protect your health and that of others by following state and local orders related to the pandemic. Please follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

If you plan to go fishing, stay close to home and check the status of the location you're planning to fish.

Some fishing access points are closed. As always, a valid fishing license is required and you must follow Texas fishing regulations, which can be found in the Outdoor Annual.

See list of temporary closures and operations adjustments.

Rainbow Trout Stocking

The trout stocking schedule for the 2020-2021 season will be posted here in mid-November. Each winter from December through early March, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stocks rainbow trout in more than 100 locations across Texas. The hatchery-reared trout are 9 to 12 inches long and create a put-and-take fishery: we expect that most will be caught within a few weeks after being stocked. In spring and summer, most Texas waters are too warm to provide suitable habitat for rainbow trout.

See locations stocked last winter.
