Wildlife Rehabilitation Subpermittee Application

This form must be filled out and submitted electronically for each new subpermittee that needs to be added to a Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit.

If the subpermittee will manage a satellite facility, that portion of the form must also be filled out. Satellite facilities must be located in Texas. If the subpermittee will only handle animals at the primary wildlife rehabilitation facility, leave the satellite facility fields blank. If multiple subpermittees share an address, only one subpermittee should fill out the satellite facility section. A satellite facility should be associated with only one subpermittee.

A subpermittee may live in a state other than Texas, but only facilities located within Texas may be permitted. Subpermittees who live outside Texas are not allowed to take animals to their residence for care, even in emergency situations. Animals cannot be transported across Texas state lines for rehabilitation.

To remove a subpermittee and/or satellite facility for a Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit, the permit holder must contact the Wildlife Permits Office through email, wpoffice@tpwd.texas.gov. Sensitive information such as driver's license and social security numbers are not required to be submitted when requesting to remove subpermittees.

All subpermittee fields are required including the electronic signature.

If the subpermittee will manage a satellite facility, that portion of the form must also be filled out. Satellite facilities must be located in Texas. The satellite facility name is optional — many do not have a name. The physical address, city and zip code are required. If the subpermittee will only handle animals at the primary wildlife rehabilitation facility, leave the satellite facility fields blank. If multiple subpermittees share an address, only one subpermittee should fill out the satellite facility section. A satellite facility should be associated with only one subpermittee.

Does the subpermittee operate a satellite facility?

Once listed on a permit, subpermittees may transport wildlife to a permitted location. Care of wildlife at a subpermittee’s location is for temporary holding purposes only. A subpermittee may only possess sick or injured wildlife while not at a registered facility only for the amount of time necessary to stabilize and transport the wildlife to a registered facility or satellite facility. Subpermittees may only transport or temporarily handle species authorized by the permit on which they are currently listed and must have a copy of the permit in the vehicle while transporting. The permit holder is responsible for providing a copy of the current permit to any subpermittees listed. A copy of the current permit must be kept onsite and made readily available for viewing at any registered rehabilitation and satellite facility.

Please allow approximately 2 to 4 weeks from the time of receipt for subpermittee applications to be processed.
This application is valid one year from the date of processing. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
