Hiking

Hiking Permitted

Hiking is an enjoyable activity that is available in many of the Wildlife Management Areas of Texas. Since potable water is not available on many of the Wildlife Management Areas, it is a good idea to bring plenty of drinking water.

Hiking on the Big Lake Bottom WMA

During daylight hours visitors with an Annual Public Hunting or Limited Public Use Permit may hike on the WMA, except during whole area closures. There are no established or maintained trails. Watch your step as venomous snakes live on the WMA. Bring your own drinking water, insect repellent and sunscreen.
