“Ode to the Bluebonnet”

Create an acrostic poem using the word "bluebonnet"

The bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. Texans love the bluebonnet so much that it was named the state flower. The more you look at a bluebonnet, the more you see. Can you think of creative ways to descibe the bluebonnet?

Directions:

  1. Read about the bluebonnet. Legend of the Bluebonnet, by Tomie de Paola
  2. Think of as many ways as you can to describe the bluebonnet. Include how it looks, where it lives, even how it makes you feel.
  3. Use the letters in the word "bluebonnet" to create an acrostic poem or “ode” about the bluebonnet.
  4. Illustrate your poem.
