The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Law Enforcement Division has activated its state-wide Search and Rescue Team and Swift Water Rescue Team to assist other law enforcement agencies and fire departments in rescuing people stranded by the Central Texas flood.
An estimated 25 state game wardens are working in boats to help people stranded by flood waters in Travis, Hays, Comal and Bastrop counties.
Game wardens were involved in water rescues in the Onion Creek area where individuals were picked up by boat from a roof top of one residence and the garage of another residence. Game wardens worked with DPS troopers and DPS air in the Martindale area where one man was picked up out of a tree. Other residents were contacted by DPS air and refused to leave their house. Game wardens are currently working the F1 area outside of Austin, conducting rescues with local fire departments.
