AUSTIN— The ghosts and goblins are coming to Texas State Parks this month with Halloween events throughout October around the state.
AUSTIN— Bees, butterflies and bugs are some of the important pollinators that help generate spectacular wildflower displays, produce delicious crops and sustain native plants. They can’t do their part without the plants and the Texas Pollinator BioBlitz is helping bring attention to the critical habitat needs of pollinators across the state during the height of the annual fall Monarch migration.
AUSTIN – For over 30 years, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Toyota ShareLunker Program has created awareness of the value of catch-and-release fishing, provided 13 pounds or heavier largemouth bass to support Texas’s selective breeding program and generated nationwide interest in Texas bass fishing. This year, TPWD is implementing changes to fully incorporate ShareLunker offspring into hatchery brood stock.
AUSTIN— In the first eight months of 2016, 88 people died on Texas rivers and lakes due to drowning, trauma and other causes. AUSTIN – The first of September in Texas sounds a lot like the fourth of July with the steady “pop, pop, pop” of shotgun reports as upwards of a quarter million dove hunters take to the fields across the state for the tradition-rich opening day of the season.
AUSTIN— Two Texas Parks and Wildlife Department employees were recognized at Thursday’s TPW Commission meeting by Executive Director Carter Smith for their outstanding work in various fields.

AUSTIN – More validation that everything’s bigger and better in Texas, dove populations are soaring and the hunting season, which gets underway Sept. 1, is the longest in 80 years.
DICKINSON — The next phase of the Dickinson Bayou Wetland Restoration Project began this month at the NRG EcoCenter in Baytown. Sea scouts and other volunteers “culled” or pulled smooth cordgrass from the on-site nursery to be planted at the newly constructed wetland restoration project in Dickinson Bayou.
