AUSTIN— More than 150 cities around the world, including eight in Texas, are gearing up to compete in this year’s annual City Nature Challenge. From April 26-29, Amarillo, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, Lower Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio can participate in the challenge to see which urban area has the most diverse landscape.
AUSTIN – The ability to manage land in difficult times, through extended dry periods, floods, wildfires and economic downturns, is the hallmark of a good land steward. In spite of the challenges, many owners of rural land continue to safeguard the wildlife, fields, forests and waters of Texas, even though many urban residents may not know it.

AUSTIN – After finding more than 18 species of fish during a recent sampling trip on the Llano River, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Inland Fisheries staff are encouraged to see fish populations rebounding following historic flooding in October 2018.
AUSTIN – World class bass fishing, shopping, live music and a variety of outdoor activities are coming to Texas’ most iconic bass fishing lake for the third annual Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest (TBTF) benefitting Texas Parks and Wildlife Department May 2-6.
GLEN ROSE –Green Mountain Energy and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) unveiled the completion of solar installations at three state parks across Texas at a ceremonial “Flip the Switch” event at Dinosaur Valley State Park. These three installations are the latest in a long-standing sustainability partnership to bring renewable energy to Texas State Parks.
AUSTIN – Texas wingshooters can begin marking their calendars for the 2019-20 hunting seasons, with minimal changes over last year’s schedule.
AUSTIN— Learn the unique history of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Buffalo Soldiers program during the Outdoor Heritage Day at Zilker Park from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. April 27.
