TERLINGUA – The Terlingua Community Garden, part of the Big Bend Citizens Alliance, is partnering with Big Bend Ranch State Park (BBRSP) to host the 11th annual Green Scene Festival. In addition to education and demonstrations related to sustainability, BBRSP is providing a special presentation related to dark sky preservation.
AUSTIN – Texas Game Wardens recently traveled to Kruger National Park in South Africa to begin an annual professional exchange program with South African National Parks Game Rangers.
AUSTIN—Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 21, and Texans will have the opportunity to vote on 10 constitutional amendments, including Proposition 5. If approved, Prop 5 would guarantee that revenue received from the collection of existing state sales taxes on sporting goods is appropriated to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and the Texas Historical Commission (THC).

ATHENS – East Texas families can get more treats than tricks at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center’s Halloween at the Hatchery event. The annual event provides a safe place to go trick-or-treating while raising money for local causes including the East Texas Crisis Center, Henderson County Rainbow Room, and the Athens High School Bass Fishing Team.
LEXINGTON, KY – During its 60th annual meeting, held in Anchorage, Alaska, Sept. 29 – Oct. 2, 2019, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) elected Asst. Commander Game Warden Cody Jones, Boating Law Administrator for Texas, as Chairman of the nonprofit organization for the 2019-2020 year. He succeeds Mark Brown, Oklahoma’s Boating Law Administrator. NASBLA is a national nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that works to develop public policy for recreational boating safety. NASBLA represents the recreational boating authorities of all 50 states and the U.S. territories.

A variety of family-friendly Halloween events are scheduled for ghouls and goblins of all ages, including zombie apocalypse hikes, jack-o’-lantern scavenger hunts, trick-or-treating at the park and spooky campfire stories, just to name a few.
