Battle of San Jacinto Commemorative Ceremony Cancelled

LA PORTE— Due to continued closure of the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, the annual Battle of San Jacinto Commemorative Ceremony has been cancelled. Additionally, due to on-going cleanup efforts, the park will not be open to the public this Easter.

CWD Sampling Effort Leads to Proposed Containment Zone Expansion

AUSTIN – Texas remains vigilant in monitoring and testing for chronic wasting disease, with no reported spread beyond existing containment zones over the last 12 months. However, the discovery of CWD in a free-ranging whitetail near the perimeter of the disease containment zone in south central Texas has led to a recommended expansion of that zone.

April is State Parks Month at Whole Earth Provision Co.

AUSTIN— For the eighth year in a row, Whole Earth Provision Co. will support Texas State Parks throughout the month of April during their “April is Texas State Parks Month” fund drive at all seven store locations across the state. The Texas-based travel, adventure and nature store will give all funds gathered during the effort to help fund state parks’ day-to-day operational expenses, including enhanced visitor programs, park trail maps and facilities maintenance.
