MOODY — Mother Neff State Park will welcome visitors on Jan. 23 and 24 to a celebration of a $6.5 million park renovation that includes a new limestone headquarters, maintenance facilities and a 20-site camping loop. The new facilities, located at the north end of the park, complement the original Civilian Conservation Corps structures, enhance the camping experience and provide visitors with a better understanding of the park’s history and natural and cultural features.

Two thousand rainbow trout will be stocked into The Nature Center pond to provide a free fishing opportunity for area youth and their adult fishing mentors. HOUSTON — Kids visiting Sheldon Lake State Park now have a new way of learning about the park’s natural environment through the use of a new phone app. Sheldon Lake State Park and Environmental Learning Center 15 miles east of downtown Houston has become the state’s first mission site for the Agents of Nature mobile game.
