TPWD Adopts Changes to Mule Deer MLDP, Pronghorn Seasons
AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has approved an experimental pronghorn buck season in some areas of the Panhandle, which would allow landowners to control the harvest of buck pronghorn on their properties. In addition, an extension to the existing mule deer managed lands deer permits (MLDP) season will be part of changes to the upcoming 2013-14 Statewide Hunting Proclamation.

TPWD Approves Changes to Fishing Regulations
AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has adopted fishing regulation changes on two largemouth bass fisheries in East Texas, and new possession rules in state waters for aquatic resources taken in the EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) as part of the 2013-14 Statewide Recreational and Commercial Fishing Proclamation.

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission at its Thursday meeting approved the acquisition of approximately 658 acres to expand a state park in El Paso that already ranks as the largest urban park in the continental United States.

Blood Alcohol Task Force Formed In Burnet County
AUSTIN – A coalition of prosecutors and law enforcement organizations have a new tool in the fight to save lives and stop driving and boating while intoxicated in the Highland Lakes west of Austin: a new, 24-hour blood sampling process that will start April 1 based in Burnet. The new system is supported by a broad coalition called the Burnet County Blood Alcohol Taskforce, which includes Texas Game Wardens.
Lesser Prairie-Chicken Aerial Survey Begins 2nd Year
LUBBOCK – This month, wildlife experts are starting the second annual aerial survey to assess lesser prairie-chicken populations across five states, part of a multi-state collaboration to conserve the bird, as federal authorities consider whether to list it as a threatened species. New this year: oil and gas companies have committed $150,000 to help fund aerial survey work.
