Texas Man Sentenced to Jail in Connection with Kansas Deer Hunting and Guiding Operation
WICHITA, KAN. – A Texas man was sentenced June 21 in federal court in Wichita on felony charges of conspiracy, wildlife trafficking and obstruction of justice related to the illegal sale of guided deer hunts in southern Kansas, announced Barry Grissom, U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas, and Ignacia S. Moreno, Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division.

Texas Awarded Federal Grant for Private Land Wildlife Recreation, River Access
AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has been awarded $813,068 for the first year of a potential three year grant totaling $2.4 million from the United States Department of Agriculture to improve public access to wildlife recreation on private land. The grant is funded through the USDA’s Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program, or VPA-HIP.
Anglers to Target Grass Carp on Lake Conroe

Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site chosen to compete for national award
EL PASO — Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site has been selected to participate in the 2011 “This Place Matters” Community Challenge sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. One hundred sites were chosen from over 250 applicants from around the country to compete in a popularity contest for three cash prizes. The winning sites will be determined by the number of votes received through the National Trust’s Web site. The top prize is $25,000.
