Anglers Catch Hundreds of Record-Setting Fish
ATHENS – Anglers throughout Texas established fishing records through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Angler Recognition Program (ARP) in 2023, highlighted by one of the most notable — six-year-old Ernst Toepfer V becoming the youngest Elite Angler in program history.

National Invasive Species Awareness Week Feb. 26 – March 3 Promotes Initiatives to Prevent Harmful, Non-Native Plants and Wildlife
AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) encourages Texans to take action against invasive species that negatively impact the state’s natural resources and economy. National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW), scheduled for Feb. 26 – March 3, is an initiative to raise awareness of the threats and provide solutions on how to prevent the spread of invasive species.

TPWD Closing Oyster Harvest Area in Matagorda Bay
AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is closing TX-11 in Matagorda Bay to commercial and recreational oyster harvest beginning 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17.

Anglers Deliver a ShareLunker Trifecta
ATHENS – Three anglers at three separate lakes caught Legacy Class ShareLunkers Monday afternoon to kickstart the second month of the 2024 Toyota ShareLunker collection season. It was the 13th time in program history that anglers submitted three or more Legacy Class largemouth bass in a single day. This is the first triple lunker day since the 2021 collection season when the feat was accomplished twice.
TPWD to Open Two Oyster Harvest Areas in Aransas Bay
AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will open TX-29 and TX-30 in Aransas Bay to commercial and recreational oyster harvest beginning 12:01 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12.

TPWD Announces Accessibility Initiative
AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is proud to announce an initiative that will increase accessibility in the outdoors for all Texans. Working with WT Group, an engineering consulting group, the agency engaged in a comprehensive accessibility evaluation resulting in an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan that will substantially improve access and communication efforts.
