AUSTIN – Access to Gorman Cave at Colorado Bend State Park has been closed to the public and additional precautions are being taken at other Texas Parks and Wildlife Department caves to protect bats from the spread of White Nose Syndrome (WNS), a contagious disease that can be fatal to bats.

AUSTIN – Twenty wild brown pelicans rehabilitated after exposure to the BP oil spill were transported from Louisiana by plane and released at Goose Island State Park near Rockport around 12:30 p.m. today, the first release of spill-rehabbed birds at a Texas state park.

TPWD Set to Graduate 41 New Game Wardens

AUSTIN – After seven months of training in everything from water rescue and state-federal law to alligator handling, the 41 cadets of the 55th Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Warden class will close one chapter of their lives and start a new one with their graduation Tuesday as state game wardens.

Dove, Teal Seasons Set

AUSTIN, Texas — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service SRC (Service Regulation Committee) has approved the 2010-2011 Texas dove season, including a 70-day season and 15-bird daily bag statewide, and a 16-day early teal season.
