West Texas Students Bring Home Top Prizes in Horned Lizard Essay Contest

AUSTIN, Texas — If you want to find horned lizards in Texas, go west. If you want to find winning student researchers and writers, you also need to look west of IH-35. West Texas schools produced all the winners in this year’s Hometown Horned Toads essay contest, sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

San Jacinto Symposium To Announce New Archeology Findings

HOUSTON — Historians, state archeologists and Texas history buffs will gather on the University of Houston campus Friday, April 23, for this year’s San Jacinto Symposium titled "Digging for History: New Insights Into the Battle of San Jacinto." The annual symposium is organized by the San Jacinto Historical Advisory Board, a state board that advises Texas Parks and Wildlife Department on San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site.

New Options, Incentives Available for Deer Management

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has adopted new options and incentives for private landowners who actively practice white-tailed deer management, including the elimination of "double tagging" and an extension of hunting seasons.
