Balmorhea State Park Pool Reopens June 26

TOYAHVALE— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is excited to announce that the spring-fed swimming pool and day use area at Balmorhea State Park will reopen to the public on June 26. The pool and day use areas only will be open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. or sunset, whichever comes first. Light construction is still ongoing in the pool area, so the public is asked to remain vigilant.

AUSTIN— Since 1971, a special group of law enforcement officers have been responsible for the safety, security and protection of the natural jewels in Texas and those who visit them.  In 2021, Texas State Park Police celebrate a half-century of   serving these special places and the  10 million state park annual visitors.

Bass Fishing’s Premier Event Returns to Lake Ray Roberts

FORT WORTH – The eyes of the fishing world will be on Lake Ray Roberts June 11-13 for the 51st Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk. It will be the third time bass fishing’s world championship event will be held in Texas having previously been held on Lake Texoma in 1979 and Lake Conroe in 2017.

Texas Game Wardens Wrap Up Busy Memorial Day Weekend Safety Efforts Statewide

AUSTIN – The Memorial Day weekend proved extremely busy for Texas Game Wardens, despite severe weather including storms, downpours and flooded rivers in some areas. Boating incidents statewide surpassed last year’s Memorial Day weekend numbers in almost every category.

Free Fishing Day in Texas Slated for June 5

AUSTIN – Anglers across the State of Texas are gearing up for Free Fishing Day on June 5. The first Saturday in June each year allows Texans to fish on any public waterbody in the state without a fishing license.

No Water Available in Enchanted Rock State Natural Area June 4 through early July

AUSTIN— Enchanted Rock State Natural Area (ERSNA) will not have water available for drinking water, personal hygiene or cleaning equipment from June 4 through July 1 while repairs are being made on the water tower damaged by the severe winter freeze in February. Restrooms will also be closed, although porta-potties and composting toilets will still be available for use.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Awards More Than $21.6 Million in Local Park Grants to Texas Communities

AUSTIN— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved more than $21.6 million in competitive local park grants to help fund projects that will create and enhance outdoor recreational opportunities like nature trails, native gardens, playgrounds, splash pads, dog parks and sports fields at 38 community parks state-wide.

AUSTIN— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved $2.84 million dollars in grants to fund 18 motorized and non-motorized recreational trail-related projects across the state.
