For over 50 years, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has been offering quality, affordable hunting experiences through the special drawings for hunts offered through the department’s Public Hunting Program.

Hunters Reminded About Mandatory Education, Deferals

AUSTIN, Texas — Hunter education is more than a legal requirement in Texas–statistics show it saves lives. People getting ready for fall hunting are reminded of two things: those who purchased hunter education deferrals last year will need hunter education this year, and there are hundreds of courses scheduled across Texas where they can fulfill that requirement.

New Game Bird Stamps Support Conservation, Hunting

AUSTIN, Texas — New game bird stamps that Texas hunters will be required to buy this fall showcase the latest development in a history of wildlife conservation success stories built by hunters. For decades, hunter purchases of licenses and dedicated stamps have provided the lion’s share of funding for important conservation work.

Texas Gets Hunter Education/Recruitment Grants

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recently received a $6,000 grant from the National Shooting Sports Foundation for hunter education recruitment.

Texas Whitewing Zone Changes Accepted

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department this week announced that the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Regulations Committee has accepted the Texas proposal to expand the Special Whitewing Dove Zone, adding a new portion of land west of I-35 and south of U. S. Highway 90 near San Antonio.

Military Personnel Get Hunting Benefits

AUSTIN, Texas — The 79th Texas Legislature passed HB 1076, which directs the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission to waive the all fees for hunting and fishing licenses for Texas residents currently on active duty as a member of the military.
