New Game Bird Stamps Support Conservation, Hunting

AUSTIN, Texas — New game bird stamps that Texas hunters will be required to buy this fall showcase the latest development in a history of wildlife conservation success stories built by hunters. For decades, hunter purchases of licenses and dedicated stamps have provided the lion’s share of funding for important conservation work.

Texas Gets Hunter Education/Recruitment Grants

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recently received a $6,000 grant from the National Shooting Sports Foundation for hunter education recruitment.

Texas Whitewing Zone Changes Accepted

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department this week announced that the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Regulations Committee has accepted the Texas proposal to expand the Special Whitewing Dove Zone, adding a new portion of land west of I-35 and south of U. S. Highway 90 near San Antonio.

Military Personnel Get Hunting Benefits

AUSTIN, Texas — The 79th Texas Legislature passed HB 1076, which directs the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission to waive the all fees for hunting and fishing licenses for Texas residents currently on active duty as a member of the military.

Changes in Deer Regulations Could Affect Hunting Plans

AUSTIN, Texas — Although the season is still months away, many Texas hunters are starting to make deer hunting plans. Changes to hunting regulations this year could affect those preparations, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

TPWD Passes Changes to Hunting, Fishing Regulations

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has adopted a series of changes to state hunting and fishing regulations that offer greater harvest flexibility on lands managed for mule deer and prairie chickens, while simplifying and expanding hunting opportunity in other areas.
