Texas Game Wardens Crack Down on Illegal Wildlife Trade in Dallas/Fort Worth

DALLAS – No Sale! That was the message nearly two dozen willing online sellers of illegal wildlife resources received from Texas game wardens, along with citations, during a Wild Web crackdown conducted this week in the Metroplex.

TPWD Taking Public Comment on Proposed Changes to Hunting Regulations

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is now accepting public comment on a suite of proposed changes to this year’s hunting regulations, which include: a unified statewide deer season opener, legalizing air guns and air bows for hunting certain wildlife species, and a reduction of the spring Eastern turkey season.

Trans-Pecos Pronghorn Restoration Team Continue Efforts

AUSTIN — This month the Trans-Pecos Pronghorn Restoration Project progressed with another successful relocation of 113 pronghorn.

Public Hearings set for Proposed Panhandle Mule Deer Regulation Changes

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has set three public hearings in the Panhandle to seek public comment on two proposed mule deer hunting regulation changes.  The proposals are to open a mule deer season in Lynn County and initiate an experimental antler restriction in Briscoe, Childress, Cottle, Floyd, Motley, and Hall counties.

Denton County Man Admits to Poaching Record Whitetail Buck

AUSTIN – The second largest whitetail buck ever in Texas could be headed to the record books with an asterisk: poached. Earlier this week, a Denton County man pleaded no contest to illegally taking the trophy deer, which scored 278 points under the Boone & Crockett scoring system, last October near Pilot Point, Texas.

Panhandle Roadkill White-tailed Deer Tests Positive for Chronic Wasting Disease

AUSTIN – A roadkill white-tailed deer collected by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department personnel on U.S. Highway 87 between Dalhart and Hartley has tested positive for chronic wasting disease. This marks the first discovery of CWD in a Texas roadkill and the first case in a Texas Panhandle whitetail.
