AUSTIN— Hunters hoping for a chance at premium guided hunt packages through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Big Time Texas Hunts program have until midnight Sunday, Oct. 15 to enter. That’s the deadline for the opportunity to be selected for these top shelf hunting adventures.

Lampasas County Man Indicted in Deaths of Bald Eagles, Vultures

AUSTIN – A Lampasas County grand jury has returned an indictment against a Bend, Texas, man on two counts of killing bald eagles, a protected non-game animal. Jackie Brister, 82, also faces additional charges alleging he captured and killed numerous other non-game birds, including black vultures and turkey vultures.

Deer Bowhunting Season Gets Under Way Saturday, Sept. 30

AUSTIN – Texas bowhunters will come “nocking” starting Saturday as deer hunting’s early season, limited to archery equipment only, opens statewide. Hunting prospects are expected to be good across the state, according to wildlife biologists with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).
