AUSTIN, Texas — On Feb. 20-21 at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will debut its new Life’s Better Outside® Experience, in effect taking its TPW Expo on the road. In San Antonio and at similar events this year in Houston, Longview and Corpus Christi, visitors of all ages can try fishing, archery, birding, rock climbing, camping, Wildlife CSI, and other activities, with gear and guidance provided free.
AUSTIN, Texas — William Vlasek got an unexpected surprise on his 50th birthday when notified he had been selected as the first person ever to receive a Lifetime Super Combo hunting and fishing license as part of a new promotional program from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Vlasek, from Hunt, Texas, was among 7,889 who applied in a TPWD’s first special drawing for a lifetime license combo.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will be conducting a Bowhunter Education Student ($15.00) and New Instructor (Free) Training Workshop February 20-21, 2010 in Athens, Texas. AUSTIN, Texas — Chris Davis of Austin has received the prestigious Shikar-Safari Club International’s Wildlife Officer of the Year Award, awarded annually by the worldwide conservation organization to one wildlife law enforcement officer in each state. Davis, a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department special operations sergeant is the 30th Texan to receive the award.
AUSTIN, Texas — After a nationwide search, Clayton Wolf has been selected to lead the Wildlife Division at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Wolf brings 20 years experience as a wildlife biologist in Texas, the last six as the agency’s big game program director. Headquartered in Austin, he begins his job Monday, Nov. 16.
