McKinney Falls State Park to Hold Easter Egg Hunt April 4

AUSTIN — Spend Easter Sunday outdoors with the family and join the Friends of McKinney Falls State Park as they host an Easter Egg Hunt at McKinney Falls State Park at 2 p.m. on April 4. Hunts will be divided into age groups from toddlers to 15-year-olds, and eggs will be scattered around the park for the kids to find.

Friends of McKinney Falls State Park also will be handing out cascarones throughout the day. Unlike the traditional confetti-filled eggs, these park-friendly cascarones will be filled with birdseed.

McKinney Falls State Park is located off of US Highway 183 and offers a variety of activities for the family to enjoy. The park offers day use picnic sites with stand-up grills, hiking and biking trails, camping and fishing and swimming in Onion Creek. Park visitors also can enjoy beautiful views of the waterfalls, Central Texas geology, and can see the ruins of Thomas F. McKinney’s 1850s homestead as well as prehistoric Native American campgrounds.

For more information contact Shane Mooneyham at (512) 243-1643 ext. 237 or or visit the Friends of McKinney State Park Web site.
