MONT BELVIEU – Spring has sprung: it’s an ideal time to get outside and enjoy the mild breezes, blooming flowers and sunny days.
On April 23, take the opportunity to enjoy this spring season at the Spring Outdoor Celebration from noon to 5 p.m. at the Mont Belvieu City Park. This celebration of the outdoors during springtime offers a chance for kids and families to learn more about the natural environment.
“The Spring Outdoor Celebration is a great way for our community to learn more about outdoor recreation and better understand our local environment,” said Texas Game Warden Patricia Vannoy, who helped organize the event. “It’s going to be a really great opportunity for families and people of all ages to get together and interact with our natural world.”
Interactive activities at the family-friendly event include archery, kayaking and fishing. Kids and families can also try their hand at shooting an airgun, climbing a rock wall and navigating an obstacle course.
The event also includes two raptor shows, presented by EarthQuest and sponsored by the Houston Pilots. During the show, a falconer will present several different birds of prey, including hawks and falcons, and discuss the adaptations that strengthen these masters of the sky. Many of the birds will then take to the sky to show off their flight skills and demonstrate how they spot and catch prey.
Mont Belvieu City Park is located at 10900 Eagle Dr., Mont Belvieu, Texas 77523.
Admission to the event is free, and all ages are welcome. Door prizes will also be given out at the event. For more event information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
The celebration is presented by City of Mont Belvieu Parks and Recreation, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Game Warden Association. Platinum event Sponsors include Houston Pilots, Barbers Hill Bank and Targa.
