Buffalo Soldiers Host Volunteer Training and Orientation Course April 20

AUSTIN— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Buffalo Soldier program will be hosting a volunteer training and orientation course this Saturday in Austin.

The training will be held from 9 a.m. — 3 p.m. April 20 at 1340 Airport Commerce Dr., Bldg 6 Ste B. For more information or to register for this class, call or email Luis Padilla, (512)389-8569, Luis.Padilla@tpwd.texas.gov.

The course is free, and participants will learn the history and cultural heritage of the buffalo soldiers and the frontier army experience. Volunteers for the Buffalo Soldier program help share the story of Texas through interpretive programs that showcase outdoor skills and education, youth mentoring, outdoor cooking and photography.
