EL PASO – As Texas State Parks celebrate 100 years, the International Museum of Art in El Paso will highlight the occasion with a photo exhibit June 3–23. “The Land That Shaped Us: Stories at Texas State Parks” will showcase artistic vintage and modern images of the state parks in El Paso: Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site, Franklin Mountains State Park and Wyler Aerial Tramway State Park.

“The three state parks are preparing an exhibit with more than 250 photographs that highlight the history, diversity, beauty and significance of these parks,” said Franklin Mountains State Park Superintendent Cesar Mendez. “Through these incredible photos, we can see how the land has shaped us as individuals and as a community.”

The project’s goal is to inspire new visitors to experience their own state park adventures by hiking the trails, bird watching, studying nature and history, or spending a night stargazing. During the three-week exhibit, the museum will offer special community events (such as volunteer nights and storytelling) to El Pasoans wanting to learn more about their local state parks.

Visitors for all Texas State Parks are encouraged to check the websites for updated camping reservation information for each park and to make online reservations. Some parks could reach their capacity limits during peak seasons so advanced day passes and overnight reservations are recommended. Day passes can be reserved online or by calling (512) 389-8900.

The International Museum of Art is located at 1211 Montana Ave. in El Paso and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 1–5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

More information about the park can be found online at TexasStateParks.org.
