April is Texas State Parks Month at Whole Earth Provision Co.

AUSTIN — For the 12th year, Whole Earth Provision Co. will celebrate “April is Texas State Parks Month” by hosting a fund drive supporting Texas State Parks. The Texas-based travel, adventure and nature store will give all funds gathered at its six Texas store locations to help finance day-to-day operational expenses, including enhanced visitor programs, park trail maps and facilities maintenance.

Legislators Support Saving “Our Park”: House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism

AUSTIN—Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and its Commission welcome the support expressed by legislators during a Thursday hearing of the House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism. Committee members reiterated their desire to continue communication with TPWD, Vistra Corp. and Todd Interests to save Fairfield Lake State Park.

Mother Neff State Park Receives Lone Star Legacy Designation

WACO— Mother Neff State Park in Waco received the Lone Star Legacy Park designation by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) at a ceremony at their annual institute in Frisco on March 2. Mother Neff State Park was the only state park to receive the award from seven parks nominated this year.

Fairfield Lake State Park to Close Permanently Feb. 28

AUSTIN— After more than 50 years of public use and outdoor recreation by Texas families, Fairfield Lake State Park will permanently close to the public Feb. 28. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) was notified by its lessor, Vistra, the owner of the site, that the land lease for Fairfield Lake State Park was terminated due to the impending sale of the property. Texas State Parks has 120 days to vacate the state park before it is turned over to the new owner, Todd Interests.
